Independent Survey Conducted by DSS Research Validates Impact of MedAssurant’s Unique Approach to Managing Chronic Illness
BOWIE, Maryland and ANNAPOLIS, Maryland – February 17, 2009 – MedAssurant, Inc., a leading provider of data-driven healthcare solutions, announced today the independent results from DSS Research showing high levels of both patient and provider satisfaction with MedAssurant’s CCS Advantage™ disease management solution.
“DSS Research conducted rigorous analysis of MedAssurant’s CCS Advantage™ program and found positive indicators surrounding care elements including overall satisfaction, outcomes of the program, informational materials, phone contact and nurse support,” said Tammy Austin, Senior Vice President, DSS Research. “The results show that both patients and practitioners feel that they have realized measurable benefits from MedAssurant’s disease management program including delivering the right tools to help providers more effectively manage their members and giving patients better control over their disease.”
DSS Research conducted a member satisfaction and care provider satisfaction survey pertaining to MedAssurant’s CCS Advantage™ program in the latter half of 2008 and applied their proprietary statistical methodology called POWeR™ Chart Key Driver Analysis. The survey initiative covered a stratified sample of 250 members in the MedAssurant CCS Advantage™ disease management program and 101 providers, encompassing primary care physicians and other office staff who had sufficient familiarity with CCS Advantage™ and other disease management programs.
Designed to provide insight into many aspects of the program, highlights of the survey findings include:
Member Satisfaction
• 89% of surveyed patients reported that they are either satisfied or very satisfied with the MedAssurant CCS Advantage™ program.
• 90% of survey patients reported that they would be likely to recommend the program to friends or family members.
• 87% of patients agree that the program has given them better control over their disease and more health care support.
• 86% of patients stated that the program has improved their health overall.
• 86% of patients reported that the educational materials they received about their disease are helpful, with MedAssurant’s customized letters containing data-driven actions to improve health and the welcome packages topping the list at 94%.
• 91% of patients stated that MedAssurant’s in-market, face-to-face nurse encounters were professional and helpful, and 90% agree that the nurses reached on the phone were professional and helpful.
Provider Satisfaction
• 81% of care providers working with MedAssurant’s CCS Advantage™ program stated that they believed the program was committed to working in partnership with physicians to provide quality care.
• 77% of care providers agree that the program has given their patients more support, 73% stated that CCS Advantage™ provided their patients better control over their disease, and 71% stated that it has assisted them in managing their patients and has improved their patients’ health overall.
• 80% of providers agree that disease management in general promotes adherence to their treatment plan, wellness and reduction in complications
• 77% agree that the data-driven material they receive about their patients is helpful and more than 83% find MedAssurant’s patient-specific risk and recommendation letters helpful.
