MedAssurant’s earliest component was formed in Michigan in 1998 in response to an increasing healthcare regulatory environment. The Company’s first healthcare data aggregation tools, known as SRSA™ (Site Review Support Application) and the iDCT™ (Integrated Data Collection Tool), were developed to enable rapid and efficient healthcare data aggregation and validation from medical facilities. The scale and capabilities of these market-leading systems were expanded over ensuing years as the client base of the Company grew to dozens of healthcare systems across as many states.
By 2003 the Company had formed strong partnerships, a wide customer base, and began significant investments aimed at a strengthening of its service footprint and HCIT toolsets. As the environment within the US healthcare landscape continued to show a growing attention towards quality of care, outcomes performance, and the importance of granular patient data, NCQA, CMS, the Federal Government, and a slew of State Departments of Health all became heavily involved in the introduction of a wide array of initiatives calling for increased assessment and improvement of clinical and quality outcomes, disease management, utilization, risk adjustment, and other performance based methods aimed at an overall effort to turn the tide on the ever-growing evidence of a need to reform the US healthcare environment. The Company added advanced HEDIS® quality assessment services, pharmaceutical study support tools, and a custom medical case and record abstraction infrastructure.
In response to requests by clients and overall market demand, MedAssurant launched a widely expanded portfolio of healthcare data aggregation, abstraction, validation, and analysis toolsets in 2004 and 2005. These included highly flexible advancements of the iDCT, nationwide data collection coordination capabilities, dynamic validation logic, and an inter-rater reliability testing capabilities. A method of targeting sought and missing information referred to as ChaseWise™ was designed and implemented. The databases feeding the determination of the ChaseWise™ algorithms were expanding and gaining validation rapidly. The market embraced the Company’s clear value-add and ROI-centric solutions avidly and a massive expansion of service footprint and capabilities ensued.
From 2005 onward the company grew in viral fashion across all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. A wide array of data-driven toolsets were launched in the arena of the assessment and improvement of clinical and quality outcomes, performance assessment, clinical effectiveness analysis, risk adjustment, and care management. New national headquarters were set up in Annapolis, Maryland in late 2006, only to be outgrown within a year of its opening. In 2007, a new national headquarters and primary data center was commissioned for Bowie, Maryland to support the Company’s expansive data systems growth as well as employee count to more than 2,000.
Now, after more than four consecutive years of significant triple-digit annual growth, MedAssurant proudly serves as one of the nation’s largest healthcare technology solutions providers, serving clients and millions of their members in all 50 states and 99.55% of U.S. counties – dedicated to the development and provision of advanced, data-centric solutions for the assessment and improvement of clinical and quality outcomes, care management, utilization, and the financial performance of the healthcare community.
